Samsung’s Galaxy S Plus models have mostly retained the same design and display as previous versions. But the icing on the cake when it comes to Samsung is the features and hardware. And when it comes to flagship phones, the first batch of tech innovation for the year, no one does it better than Samsung. This has been true for the previous year’s Galaxy S and S Plus models including the Ultra variant and this will be true for the S25 models.
It was long rumored that there won’t be a Plus version this year. On the contrary, Samsung’s close sources have revealed that there will be a Galaxy S25 Plus for the long-awaiting fans. Tech giant Apple always has 4 arrows in the quiver, with the upcoming iPhone 16 models likely to star an iPhone 16 Ultra as a fifth.
This rumour however sounds too good to be true and Samsung will have tough competition from the former company this year claims a set of rumours. The Galaxy S25 Plus or the Galaxy S25+ (for simplicity) is the middle child in the S25 lineup, packed with all the younger sibling’s feature sets, albeit in a slightly bigger shell.
Galaxy S25 Plus: What’s changed?
“This year is all about the feature set for the most part”
Naturally, we’d start with the design and other features but this time is different. The news about the existence of the Galaxy S25 Plus was grim at the beginning. Every new rumor that popped up started spreading S25 Plus’s non-existent news.
As we were close to another major event from the company, reliable sources revealed that the S25 is in the works and will be announced in full glory during the Jan-Feb event this year.
“Aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 3 for the S25 and S25 Plus”
What are we getting this time with another Plus model? For one, the design of the Galaxy S25 Plus will likely remain the same as the previous generation S24 Plus.
Adding more protection to the front and back will be the Gorilla Glass Victus 3, along with the Aluminium frame. Like the iPhone 15 Pro models, Samsung is expected to offer a titanium shell exclusively for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
“QHD 6.8 inch display might become a reality as per rumors. This set also conserves battery life”
Setting aside that comparison, rounded corners and button layout will remain the same as last year. The display as per the rumours is also expected to get a slight upgrade to 6.8-inches on the S25 Plus.
This rumor could be validated since other sources have revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is getting a 6.9-inch display. From 1080p on the S23 Plus to the QHD display on the S24 Plus was a major upgrade, one that we all welcomed. It’s not going to be a surprise if Samsung stuck with the same QHD setup on the S25 Plus and a slightly higher resolution display for the S25 Ultra.
“The triple camera setup is set for an upgrade with new telephoto zoom and wide-angle capabilities.”
We wonder whether it’s too much to ask for a camera action button on these phones. However, this is likely to incur expenses for the company as the layout needs considerable upgrades to incorporate one. And speaking of the camera button, the triple camera setup is set to get an upgrade this year.
Samsung might ditch the in-house ISOCELL sensor for a Sony on the S25 models. Rumors are saying that we could expect more equipped telephoto and ultrawide cameras. The wide-angle lens is also set for an upgrade but that is not echoed well in the news industry (we can mostly discard this rumor though).
“Unified lineup might just become a reality like seeing on the S23 Lineup.”
Another major change here is the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip for the entire series. Yes, following the trend from the S23 launch, Samsung is expected to offer the S25 lineup powered by the Gen 4 chip clocked at 4.26GHz.
The new 3 nanometer manufacturing process chip will be as high-end as it gets offering great performance without compromising battery life.
It would be interesting to see if this chip is exclusive to certain countries and if we get the Exynos 2500 for the international variants. Nothing is certain at this point as rumours are pointing in multiple directions.
“Plenty of battery juice, now courtesy of stacked battery technology thereby promising slimmer phones”
At the least, we could expect a 4800mAh battery on the Galaxy S25 Plus. As mentioned in other articles, Samsung might switch to stacking to offer better performance and battery life. With phones getting bulky these days owing to the camera bump, we don’t want yet another phone with a bulk battery. And that’s where the stacking promises a modest battery size at the cost of nothing.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus Price: New Year, New Strategy
“Galaxy S25 Plus release date as per rumors is around late January or early February before the CES Event.”
We are not surprised if a new phone arrives with a slightly higher price tag. Consumers and fans alike will spend on premium phones these days. Samsung makes sure to meet almost everybody’s expectations when it comes to product launches.
Seeing that the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip 6 saw a price hike from the previous year, the Galaxy S25 lineup is set to inherit the same script. Up from $799 to $899 for the base S25, and an expected price tag of $1399 or higher for the S25 Ultra, the price of the Galaxy S25 Plus can be between $999 to $1099.
That’s a heavy price tag for the year and one that’s expected. There are various rumors that Apple iPhone 16 Pro models will be strategically priced this year and to keep up with the competition, Samsung might go all in on the pricing.
